MEET JANETTE SAUTER

Physician Associate, Founder, Owner

MSHS, PA-C,  Aesthetic Injector

Janette has been a Physician Associate board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Associates for over 10 years. She specializes in Aesthetic Medicine with a specific focus on facial balancing and natural aging.

Locally born and raised in Annapolis, Janette has been a lifetime native to the DMV. She graduated from the George Washington University School of Medicine with a Master’s in Health Sciences, a certificate in Physician Associate studies, and electives completed in Plastic Surgery, Trauma Surgery, Wound Care, and the GW Advanced Surgical Program.  Her career began in Emergency Medicine for the George Washington University Hospital where she worked for several years.

In 2016, Janette made the move into Aesthetic Medicine. She is well known in the industry for her soft voice and gentle touch. Janette credits her Emergency Medicine background with providing the foundation for her advanced procedural skill set and her ability to expertly handle complications. Those qualities plus an obsessive attention to detail and meticulous injection technique is what sets her apart. She refuses to rush through any patient and prides herself on patient education and provider training.

Janette and Dr. Thuy Doan during Atlanta training

Training is an essential component of being an expert injector. Janette has attended countless injectable and skin device training courses varying from local to international.  “No matter how many years of experience I have, I can always learn something from training. Whether it be a new injection technique, a way to make someone more comfortable, reviewing safety and anatomy, or a managerial tip, you can always leave a training feeling refreshed.”

In December of 2021 Janette had the fortunate opportunity to train with Dr. Thuy Doan in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Doan, who will forever be one of Janette’s mentors, provided her the framework to develop her own injection technique and business model.

Wanting to bring back the patient care aspect in Aesthetic Medicine, Janette left the corporate world of injecting and became a contractor. She spent the next year working for different offices and learning as much as she could about the business aspect of injectables. In 2023, she and her husband began Blue Aesthetics with the goal of providing personalized care in a relaxed environment for patients and a rewarding career with creativity, appreciation, and an excellent work life balance for her employees.

At Blue, people are not rushed, a minimalistic approach is employed, and the true artistry of the injector can shine. She gives all patients her cell phone number and email and encourages open communication. “I want people to see me as a friend who cares about them. I would not rush through injecting my mother’s or my husband's face, and I will not rush through yours. I will never push someone to have a treatment who is not ready. We are a team and we come up with your treatment plan together. If I feel I cannot give you what you want, be it from scope of practice or budget, I will tell you no. True honesty is something I value greatly.  I will refer to surgery whenever needed. I do not pretend injectables are the answer to everything.”

Aside from seeing patients, Janette enjoys training other aesthetic injectors, being outdoors, dancing, singing, traveling, interior design, and spending time with family. She currently resides in Arlington, with her husband Bo, their two daughters, and their son.

Julie Hurst

Physician Associate, Injector

MS, PA-C,  Aesthetic Injector

Julie has been a Physician Associate board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Associates for over 6 years. She specializes in Aesthetic Medicine with a specific focus on natural volume restoration and preventative aging treatments.

Julie is a native of DC/Northern VA being born and raised in Arlington, VA. She began her undergraduate studies as an Art Major but ultimately graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, concentration in Biochemistry. In 2018 Julie graduated from Shenandoah University with a Master of Science in Physician Associate Studies.

The next five years of her career were heavily based on procedural and educational medicine. Julie has extensive experience in Cosmetic Dermatology and ENT where she specialized in cosmetic injections, IPL, microneedling with PRP/PRF, hair restoration with PRP/PRF, chemical peels, customized skin care regimens, endoscopies, laryngoscopies, intranasal injections, surgical first assist, training of newly hired PA’s and NPs, and education for patients.

Combining art with medicine is what drew Julie to specialize in the field of Medical Aesthetics. She joined Blue Aesthetics in October of 2023 where she began a 6 month fully supervised and guided training program with PA Janette Sauter. Over that time, Julie has been able to tailor her aesthetic and injectable skills to the Blue Aesthetics model of treatment.

It didn’t take long for Julie to become well known for her artistic eye that guides her through pan facial treatments, her relaxed no rush demeanor, and her concierge approach to patient care. “I love being able to be there for my patients whether it is taking the time to answer questions and provide education during the consult or being available electronically after hours during their recovery.”

When she’s not making everyone look beautiful, Julie loves spending time with her son and her family, gardening, traveling, decorating for holidays, and relaxing at their family farm in West Virginia. She is also a bit of a thrill seeker as evidenced through her love of crime and thriller movies.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • During pregnancy or nursing, we will tailor a medical grade skin care routine for you that is safe. You can also do prenatal facials and the hydrafacial.

At Blue we are conservative and keep safety as our first priority. Thus, we hold on your botox, filler, retinol, kybella, and chemical peels until you have finished nursing.

  • Absolutely. With neurotoxin treatment, you will have raised areas where you were injected. This is from the fluid in the injection and is not swelling. It absorbs in about 20 minutes. You do not need to do anything about this.

With filler, it is possible to have a small bruise and maybe very mild swelling. However, you are more likely to notice this than other people. If you are trying to be discreet with lip filler, you may want to work from home that day as the lips will be larger than the final result right after injection.

  • Not typically. We have long appointment slots with our providers so that our patients get expert care and have all of their questions addressed, pain controlled, and appropriate time for your injections. The best way to get an appointment is to text 703-712-1913 or check out our online schedule by clicking this link.

We always welcome you to stop by and check out the office. Our front desk staff are ready to answer questions about treatments and skin care and schedule your appointments. If there happens to be an open appointment, we will happily see you.

  • Yes. These are performed over zoom and text. We will have you submit several photos via text prior to your zoom call. Just text 703-712-1913 or check out our online schedule at by clicking this link, and schedule a virtual consult.

  • Facial balancing is a term used to describe the art of having all facial features blend harmoniously with each other. It addresses shadows, ratios, graceful aging, and small or large features. It involves multiple conservative treatment sessions, multiple modalities, and patience. Good things develop naturally over time. Less is more.

Facial balancing has become a “buzzword” for the aesthetics industry recently with many injectors claiming to be a “facial balancer”. While there is no certification required for this technique, there are specific experts in this art that conduct their own master classes. PA Janette Sauter has been trained by expert Dr. Thuy Doan in Atlanta, Georgia. She highly recommends her training to other injectors interested in this approach to facial treatments.

  • Not really. Sometimes all someone needs is 1 syringe for an under-eye or a touch-up and in that case then yes. The goal of Blue Aesthetics is to accentuate your natural, beautiful features, fight aging with grace, and bring out self-confidence. We do not spot correct. If an area of your face bothers or concerns you, we explain the aging process for the entire face (bones, muscles, fat pads, skin, etc) and come up with a plan to address this. Adding 1 syringe of filler to a line or fold that bothers you may remove the fold. However, it will also distort other features and make the face appear unnatural. Thus, we do not sell a syringe for just one area if it is not consistent with facial balancing.

  • No. During your initial consultation, we will come up with a plan. This plan will likely include treatment with multiple modalities (muscle relaxers, collagen stimulators, dermal fillers, and skin care). You do not need to, nor would we let you do all treatments in one session. Too much treatment in one session will not achieve a natural result and would increase your chances for complications. We are not an office that tries to get a large sale out of you and do “all the things” right away. We want a relationship with you. We want to see how your treatment settles and re-evaluate the plan for your next step. We want you to be comfortable with us so that you can ask questions and address concerns if needed. We see you multiple times a year on purpose.

  • Yes! We participate with Cherry Financing. They have lots of interest-free options and are a soft credit check. Therefore it does not affect your credit lines. We do charge a usage fee of 5% of your total sale if you choose this payment option. This is because we are also charged by Cherry. Click the link below to apply:
